There are many different methods and techniques for research such as Primary research which involves you going out and finding out the information for yourself through techniques such as interviews, observations and questionnaires.

The bo bo doll is used to observe the aggression in kids by the adult putting the bo bo doll into a room and then hitting the doll and when the kid enters the room, the kid then copies the adult in the same way.
Jeremy Paxman puts the interviewee under pressure because he knows what answers he wants to make headlines from, by repeating the question till they give a response to that question. the way the Paxman interviews is semi structured because he knows what he wants to ask but sticks to that one question until they give a response.

Louis Theroux has good techniques when he is interviewing because he interviews the interviewee with a non controversial approach but still has an opinion on the topic of the interview.

On the Apprentice they ask open questions to the entrepreneurs to see what explanations they get in response to the questions. The interviews on The Apprentice are tense because they put you on the spot and expect a decent response, on the apprentice they also question the CV and the business plan of the entrepreneurs. This would be known as a semi structured interview.
